Slow Winter Months | How do you spend them?
It’s natural for business to slow down in the winter, and it’s actually quite welcomed after a busy summer and fall season. Since the blog has been kind of quiet, I wanted to share some of what we do during our winter months. Would love to hear what you do during the slow winter months! Share in the comments!
The thinnest sheet of ice was what we woke up to one morning…so naturally, you ice skate on the deck, right?
But when there’s nothing to do outside or it’s just too nasty, we build blanket forts. My daughter loves these, and I do too, but if we sleep in them for a night, my hips tell me I don’t love them. 😉
Other days, I’ll find her taking notes, drawing, or noting down a story she unfolded in her imagination. The kitchen countertop is a great place to work I’ve heard.
Then we have cookie day…my mom makes my favorite cookies, and we pack them up to give to friends, neighbors, and family. Well…the cookies that manage to get away from me. Yum!
We make it up to the National Zoo to see the ZooLights every year, and this year was no exception. She paid for tickets for her and her daddy to ride the carousel with her allowance money too. After the zoo, we stopped in to see the National Christmas tree. It was beautiful, and H loved looking at all the pretty lights, the state trees, and the trains/villages setup around the base of the tree. Nice traditions to have.
Practicing guitar is a perfect activity during the cold months. Although, she still loves to open her window and play for the neighborhood even at 20 degrees. eek!
Trips back home to the Midwest are always fun too. We spent New Year’s with them, and made lots of good memories. I love this picture of her and one of her aunts.
Then of course we have days when not much happens, which of course means lots of photos of the dogs! Daisy earns treats from Nana…usually without much effort because she’s spoiled rotten!
We had the opportunity to see another exit from the White House. President Obama was leaving for his last trip, to Chicago, to give his final speech. We are always thankful for opportunities such as these.
And just in case you thought, Wow…they don’t have dance parties on a random evening…fear not. We do! Dress up, killer boots, and awesome music! But as with every diva, comes attitude. 😉
It’s also super when you don’t have school, just because, AND you just so happen to get snow too! Snowy, lazy days make for some great fun.
With all the fun these months have brought, we are ready for sunshiny days! Bring them on, we’re ready!
