Climate March 2017 | Washington DC
The Protectors of Justice, Creators of Sanctuary, Builders of Democracy, Guardians of the Future, Defenders of Truth, Keepers of Faith, Reshapers of Power, and Many Struggles One Home…
These were the sections at the Climate March today. You marched with whatever community you fit best. A movement for our planet, a movement that would be incredibly hard not to support. No matter how you feel about our political climate, our actual climate is something many people feel is threatened in a big (huge) way. I didn’t have time to prepare a sign for today’s march, so I decided I would do what I love, and that’s taking pictures. I spent they day documenting my experience at the Climate March in Washington DC.
As soon as I arrived, I ran into someone from my community, and we walked to the Capitol together chatting about the day’s event and how excited we were to witness it. It’s always nice seeing a familiar face at something like this. I was quickly guided to a spot where I could have some free signs, with beautiful artwork I must add. I spent the first part of my day photographing everyone getting ready, chatting with people and listening to their stories. I found the age range to be incredible. There were babies with their parents, teenagers, young adults, and MANY grandparents with signs showing major concern for their grandchildren’s future. I get it…totally. There were people from every race, financial status, religion, and yes, differing political sides….because Mother Earth belongs to all of us, and must all care for her. We only have one, and like one of the signs I saw today said, “We need her more than she needs us.”
I’m not going to get too into my personal views, although I’m sure they’re obvious, but rather, share with you some of my favorites from today because after all it’s a beautiful thing when this many people come together because they’re so incredibly passionate about something.
This was a moment of silence, when everyone just sat down…while Surrounding the White House.
Signs, prepped and ready!
People marched for various reasons affected by climate change including people’s grandchildren, the animals, sacred grounds, clean air, clean water etc.
This guy commented on my super cool hair, and in return, I told him how awesome his beard is!
The free artwork posters!
I must say I really felt for the guy in the polar bear costume because it got up to 95 degrees today!
SAVE THE BEES!!!
Waiting to start marching!
He was singing his own version of, This Land is your Land. It was awesome.
Nuclear everything…yuck!! Humans shouldn’t be able to harness that amount of energy (in my opinion).
This group’s t-shirts reflected the global warming from 1880-current. Very creative.
The law enforcement was out in full force today and it was greatly appreciated. They have major respect from me…always. <3
Let’s help our planet because…Why not?!
We need her.
